Our work:
Civic Information
How it's used
We are modernizing the US voting system right now with innovative partners around the country. By working together, we can see transformative results.
Vote.org

Vote.org is the largest 501(c)(3) nonprofit, nonpartisan voting registration and get-out-the-vote (GOTV) technology platform in America. In 2023, Vote.org expanded its VIP voter tools by adding the ability for paid partners to display their candidate endorsements on the organization’s expanded “See What’s On Your Ballot” tool. The tool allows voters to preview what will be on the ballot that they encounter when they vote at their polling place or by mail. The new endorsement functionality was piloted in two states in 2023, ahead of a larger, national rollout of the endorsement feature for the 2024 election.

Vote.org’s new tool showed voters what was on their ballot for the November 7, 2023 general election and will be expanded in 2024. Voting can be a complicated process, but Vote.org aims to simplify and streamline it for voters, and the new See What’s On Your Ballot tool is a natural extension of that important work. With this pilot launch, Vote.org allowed voters to be confident about the voting process, have more time to research their candidates or ballot measures and be better-prepared stewards of democracy. Once voters select their ballot choices, they can opt to receive an emailed version of their choices, which they can even take with them to their polling place or use as they fill out their mail-in ballot

First Vote NC

First Vote NC, an initiative of EducationNC, teaches North Carolina high school students the mechanics of voting by providing them the opportunity to participate in an online, simulated election, authentic down to the customized ballot based on the address of the student’s school. First Vote’s simulations of local, state, and national elections have enabled thousands of students to learn about the mechanics of how, when, and where to vote; to discuss the election; and to actually simulate the act of voting, with the ultimate goal of preparing students for a lifetime of civic engagement. In 2018, First Vote NC received the 2018 American Civic Collaboration (Civvy) award in the Youth Category as an outstanding example of “collaborative work that elevates democracy and civic engagement.” Since 2016, we have partnered with First Vote NC to provide the civic data that powers this simulation, including information about candidate, contest, political geography, and party information for state, federal, and local candidates.
